ABOUT COMPOSITION CORNER

Composition Corner started in 2020, when COVID-19 shut live performances down and musicians suddenly had to find new ways to create. When I was in music school, doing anything outside of music was often seen as a “fallback” or giving up. That misaligned idea stuck with me, and I wanted to change it. Musicians aren’t failures for exploring other paths — they’re artists with more than one outlet, and those outlets deserve attention and respect.

What began as a small blog has grown into a community of multi-hyphenate musicians who also write, paint, craft, and create in countless other ways. We celebrate musicians who pursue multiple forms of art, showing that each creative endeavor can inform and enrich the others. Starting in 2023, Composition Corner started local pop-up shops across Fairfield County with stationery and paper goods designed for musicians — simple, practical tools to capture ideas, keep notes, reflect on their work, and stay invested in other creative pursuits.

Each month, we feature artists who balance music with other creative outlets, from painting and writing to crafting and design. We also share reflections on the artistic journey, book reviews, journal prompts, and tips for building a sustainable creative life. Our goal is to support musicians in pursuing their passions fully, without judgment or limitation.

Composition Corner exists to give space to the full creative lives of musicians, offering inspiration, community, and tools to explore every corner of their artistic selves. We hope this space encourages musicians to embrace all the ways they create and to connect with others who do the same.

Thank you for being part of our melody.
